These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Spenso expense tracker app, website, APIs, beta builds, and related services (collectively, the “Service”) provided by Spenso (“Spenso”, “we”, “our”, or “us”).
By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, you may not use the Service.
1. Eligibility
You must be legally capable of entering into binding agreements to use the Service. If you use Spenso on behalf of an organization, you represent that you are authorized to do so.
2. Description of Service
Spenso is a lightweight expense tracker designed to help users write or dictate expenses quickly. The Service may parse text or voice input into structured expense entries, categories, tags, notes, dates, and amounts.
Spenso is not financial, tax, accounting, investment, or legal advice. You are responsible for reviewing your records and making decisions based on your own circumstances.
3. Beta Service
Spenso may be offered as a beta, TestFlight, preview, or early access product. Beta features may be incomplete, unavailable, limited, or changed without notice.
You should not rely on beta builds as your only copy of important financial records. Export or back up important data where available.
4. Accounts and Access
Certain features may require an account, beta invite, or user identifier. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your device, account, and credentials.
You must provide accurate information when registering for the Service and promptly notify us of unauthorized access or security incidents.
5. Your Data and Content
You retain ownership of expense records, notes, text, audio, and other content you submit to Spenso (“User Content”).
You grant Spenso a limited license to process User Content only as needed to provide, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the Service.
You are responsible for:
- The accuracy of expense records
- Reviewing parsed or transcribed entries before relying on them
- Keeping backups of important records
- Ensuring your use complies with applicable laws and obligations
6. Acceptable Use
You may not use Spenso to:
- Violate laws or regulations
- Submit content you do not have the right to process
- Abuse, disrupt, overload, or attack the Service
- Reverse engineer or interfere with the Service except where allowed by law
- Attempt unauthorized access to systems or data
- Use automated requests in a way that harms the Service
- Upload malware or harmful content
Your use is also governed by our Acceptable Use Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.
7. Third-Party Services
Spenso may rely on third-party services for hosting, app distribution, beta testing, diagnostics, transcription, or AI processing.
We are not responsible for failures, delays, outages, or actions caused by third-party services.
8. Plans, Fees, and AI Usage Limits
Spenso may offer free access, paid subscriptions, beta access, or other plans. Features, pricing, and limits may vary by plan and may change with appropriate notice where required.
Free users currently receive up to 50 AI parsing requests for the lifetime of their Spenso access. Each entry submitted through the AI input field counts toward this allowance, including an entry that produces multiple expenses or no usable expense.
Paid subscriptions include unlimited access to AI features, subject to fair use and the safeguards in these Terms and our Acceptable Use Policy. The current fair-use allowance is up to 1,000 AI parsing requests per calendar month. We may apply separate limits to other AI features, such as OCR or document processing, when those features become available.
We may temporarily slow, restrict, or suspend AI features when usage exceeds an applicable limit, appears automated or abusive, threatens service reliability, or creates disproportionate operational cost. We may adjust fair-use allowances as the Service evolves, and will provide notice where required by law.
9. Privacy
Your use of the Service is governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle information.
10. Feedback
If you submit feedback, ideas, or suggestions, you grant Spenso a non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual license to use that feedback without restriction or obligation to you.
11. Suspension and Termination
We may suspend or terminate access if:
- You violate these Terms or the Acceptable Use Policy
- Your use creates security, legal, operational, or abuse risks
- We are required to do so by law
- The beta or Service is discontinued
You may stop using the Service at any time.
12. Intellectual Property
The Service, including software, design, branding, and documentation, is owned by Spenso or its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws.
You may not copy, modify, redistribute, or reverse engineer the Service except as allowed by law or with our written permission.
13. Disclaimer of Warranties
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind.
We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, accurate, secure, or suitable for your particular financial, tax, or accounting needs.
14. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Spenso shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, including data loss, inaccurate records, business interruption, or lost profits.
Spenso’s total liability arising from the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid to Spenso for the Service during the 12 months before the claim, or EUR 50 if you have not paid Spenso.
15. Consumer Rights
Nothing in these Terms limits rights you may have under mandatory consumer protection law.
16. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Portugal, without regard to conflict of law principles.
Disputes arising from these Terms shall be subject to the courts of Portugal, except where mandatory law provides otherwise.
17. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after updates become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
